Guilty until Positively Proven Innocent

When I started G.U.P.P.I., and later Free Freedom (a prison program targeting rehabilitation and re-entry), I started with only a dream to use my past mistakes, my determination and desire to fight as a starting point for change to our criminal justice system that has taken advantage of so many of us.

We have something that the average organization does not have; our own experiences, pain, trials and tribulations in this system. My own ups & downs, how I missed marks & failed myself due to my inabilities/unwillingness to further educate myself on the laws that I now know to be unjust & unkind to the poor.

History will teach us that there are two sets of rules & laws, for the ones that can afford legal counsel & the ones that cannot. It’s sad, but true. The “have nots” is now the majority and while most just happen to be of color, it is not limited to race. That's why we at G.U.P.P.I. ask "if you can see us, the poor."

There are many obstacles & difficulties you will face on your own ("pro-se) trying to navigate post-conviction relief. We know how to research, to draft, to attack. Use our experiences, our past mistakes, to assist you in this journey where you are guilty until positively proven innocent; let us help you prove it.
